Luminarium, a large-scale walk-through art installation by Architects of Air, will arrive at The Stray in Harrogate from 11 to 14 June.
The inflatable structure, created by Artistic Director Alan Parkinson, will offer visitors a calming and colourful sensory experience in the heart of Harrogate.
Designed to be inclusive and suitable for all ages, Luminarium features winding pathways, domes and chambers filled with changing light and colour. As daylight passes through the translucent fabric, visitors can explore an immersive environment shaped by colour, space and atmosphere.
Since 1992, more than three million people across over 40 countries have visited Architects of Air’s Luminaria installations. Alan Parkinson began developing light-filled sculptures in the 1980s, with his work later gaining international recognition.
Luminarium is the first event in Harrogate International Festivals’ Harrogate Unlocked project, which marks the organisation’s 60th anniversary. The project is supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, Harrogate BID, and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Harrogate Unlocked will bring outdoor cultural events into the town centre, encouraging residents and visitors to spend time in Harrogate and support local businesses.
The programme is among 65 projects supported across York and North Yorkshire through funding designed to help strengthen high streets and create vibrant destinations for communities.
Half-hourly time slots can be booked. Last entry is 20 minutes before closing.
