No Bounds Festival 2026 Returns to Sheffield

About

No Bounds Festival will return to Sheffield and Rotherham from 9 to 11 October 2026, bringing together internationally recognised artists, grassroots venues, community organisations and cultural innovators for a significant edition ahead of the festival’s tenth anniversary in 2027.

Taking place across ten independent venues and exhibition spaces, the festival will once again explore the relationship between music, art, technology and place through a diverse programme of live performances, exhibitions, discussions and community-led projects.

A Return to Grassroots Culture

The 2026 edition reflects a renewed focus on the independent and community-driven foundations that helped establish No Bounds as a distinctive cultural event in South Yorkshire. Alongside music, visual art and club programming, the festival will introduce a new symposium and discourse programme designed to encourage conversations between audiences, artists and local communities about the future direction of the festival.

This collaborative approach forms part of the festival’s wider vision as it prepares to celebrate a decade of activity in 2027.

Mark Fell Returns to South Yorkshire

A key figure within this year’s programme is Rotherham-born artist, composer and electronic music innovator Mark Fell. Widely recognised for his contributions to contemporary electronic music, sound art and experimental composition, Fell will return to No Bounds to premiere new work.

His appearance highlights the festival’s ongoing commitment to showcasing artists from South Yorkshire whose work continues to influence international conversations around music, technology and culture.

Max Cooper to Open the Festival

The opening night will feature an immersive audiovisual performance from acclaimed electronic composer Max Cooper at Peddler Warehouse. The show will incorporate music from his latest album Feeling is Structure, alongside material spanning his wider catalogue.

Support on the evening will come from Sheffield-based Emergence Collective.

Headline Performances Across the Weekend

The festival programme will include performances from a broad range of influential artists working across electronic music and contemporary club culture.

  • Blawan
  • Mala
  • Oppidan
  • Main Phase
  • KAVARI
  • The Black Dog

Sheffield electronic pioneers The Black Dog will present a special edition of Loud Ambient, marking their first appearance at the festival since the passing of founding member Ken Downie in 2025.

Celebrating South Yorkshire Talent

Local artists and organisations remain central to the No Bounds programme. Sheffield artist and rapper Kid Acne will perform material from a new album, while a collaborative showcase involving Steeze Factory, Pattern + Push, Slambarz and Tracks will create opportunities for emerging artists from across the region.

The programme will also feature the UK debut of Gyrofield, alongside new commissions and projects from festival residents 96 Back and Rian Treanor.

Treanor will present a new music and dance work developed with young Roma participants from Rotherham. Additional performances created through his Electronic Music Club initiative will involve members of Rotherham Sight & Sound.

Community Partnerships and Collaboration

Community engagement continues to play an important role within the festival. A range of Sheffield-based collectives will contribute to the programme, including:

  • Gut Level
  • Wub Club
  • The Beatriarchy
  • Bass Off
  • Unity Underground
  • La Rumba
  • Funky Drummer

New and existing partnerships will further support artists and audiences throughout the weekend. Kitchen Radio joins as the festival’s official local radio partner, while collaborations with Yorkshire Sound Women’s Network, Outlands and the Oram Awards will support creative practitioners working across music, sound and technology.

Exhibitions Across Sheffield and Rotherham

Alongside its live music programme, No Bounds will present a series of exhibitions across both cities.

Highlights include an exhibition centred on Daniel Dylan Wray’s documentation of Sheffield’s independent music culture, a showcase connected to Kid Acne’s forthcoming publication, and a presentation exploring three years of Rian Treanor’s Electronic Music Club project.

Looking Ahead to the Festival’s Tenth Anniversary

Since launching in Sheffield in 2017, No Bounds has established itself as one of the UK’s leading festivals examining the intersections between music, art, technology and place.

As the festival approaches its tenth anniversary, the 2026 edition aims to build on South Yorkshire’s cultural heritage while creating new opportunities for collaboration, participation and artistic experimentation.
