Kirkstall Abbey

Kirkstall Abbey

About

Located only 3 miles from the centre of Leeds, Kirkstall Abbey is unequalled in grandeur as one of the most complete Cistercian monasteries in the country.

Founded 870 years ago, the ruins tell the story of monastic life in Yorkshire and how the community centred around this important place.

A conversational audio tour provides an insight into the lives of the people who called the abbey home. Remember to bring along proof of address if you live in Leeds to get your annual pass for free. Enjoy a drink and a snack at our brand new Abbey Café.
