Thwaite Watermill

Thwaite Watermill

Nestled on a tiny island paradise in the River Aire, Thwaite Watermill is one of the last remaining examples of a water powered mill in Britain.

Experience water power in action and discover how solid rock was turned into paint and putty. Follow a nature trail across the island and see how many local wildlife species you can spot. Step back in time and discover what life was like at Thwaite House, a Georgian Grade II listed building packed full of vintage treasures, and find out how workers from the cottages lived self-sufficiently on our eco-friendly island.
