Woodend is a gallery and creative industries hub, open to the public. Next door to Scarborough Art Gallery, Woodend is the former holiday home of the famous literary family – the Sitwells Many of the rooms, including the Gallery, still boast an array of charming period features in this delightful heritage building. Sitwell by Eat Me café is based in the room that was the family’s dining room.

Woodend provides high quality and fully equipped office accommodation, flexible virtual office services, and a superb range of unique meeting spaces, conference rooms and hot desk suites.

Getting to the Woodend Gallery and Studios

Located in The Crescent, 5 minutes walk from Scarborough town centre and around 10 minutes walk from the South Bay beach and foreshore.

Woodend Gallery and Studios is a large stone building with a modern extension made of stone, metal and glass, located on The Crescent.

From two large stone pillars, a short driveway leads down to the main entrance door.

Woodend is located next door to Scarborough Art Gallery and can be accessed from Valley Road, through the Valley Gardens.

Parking:

There is no car parking on site for general visitors. There are designated parking spaces for tenants.

Accessible parking for Blue Badge holders is outside Woodend on The Crescent.

The Palm Court Car Park is a multi-storey, pay and display car park close to Woodend.

On street pay and display parking is available on The Crescent and Valley Road.

By train:

Scarborough railway station is a 10-minute walk away. This is a step free station. Taxis are available at the station.

By bus:

The nearest bus stop is at York Place, 2 minutes walk from Woodend.

East Yorkshire Buses provide bus travel services around Scarborough borough.

Yorkshire Coastliner bus service provides travel links from Leeds, Whitby, and Bridlington.

Arriva provide bus travel into Scarborough from Middlesbrough, Whitby, and Robin Hoods Bay.

Access & Arrival

– There is step free access to the Woodend along with a small set of steps to the main door. Inside there is a Welcome Desk and our friendly staff will be ready to greet you.
– The Welcome Desk, shop, café, and gallery are on the ground floor. The ground floor is fully accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Accessible toilet

– There is a fully accessible toilet available to visitors on the ground floor.

Assistance animals

– We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs in the gallery. Drinking bowls are available on request from the information desk. When visiting, please take responsibility for your assistance animal as it should remain under your care and control throughout your visit.

Dogs

– Well behaved dogs, kept on a lead throughout your visit, are welcome in Woodend.
