Blacks to Host Free Guided Hike Around Bamford Edge, Sheffield

Outdoor retailer Blacks is inviting members of the public to take part in a free guided hike around Bamford Edge as part of its ‘90 Minutes to Nature’ campaign.

Taking place on Saturday 5 September 2026, the event aims to highlight how some of the UK’s outdoor landscapes can be reached from major cities in less time than many everyday commutes.

Free Bamford Edge Circular Hike from Sheffield

The day will begin at Sheffield Train Station, where registered participants will receive a return train ticket for the journey to Bamford. From there, the group will set out on a guided 9km Bamford Edge Circular hike.

Three Ordnance Survey Champions will accompany the group, helping participants navigate the route and sharing their outdoor knowledge throughout the walk.

The hike is expected to take approximately four to five hours and includes around 330 metres of elevation.

90 Minutes to Nature

The event forms part of Blacks’ ‘90 Minutes to Nature’ campaign, which encourages people to discover accessible countryside, walking routes and outdoor spaces within easy reach of urban areas.

Natalie Wolfenden, author and outdoor enthusiast at Blacks, said the campaign is designed to demonstrate how straightforward it can be to reach open landscapes from cities such as Sheffield. She highlighted Bamford Edge as an example of the trails and outdoor experiences available relatively close to home.

Participants should arrive at Sheffield Train Station by 9:30am. Although a refreshment stop is planned during the walk, attendees are advised to bring their own water and suitable refreshments for the hike.

How to Get Free Tickets

Tickets for the Bamford Edge guided hike are free and are available through Eventbrite. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
