This unique annual show celebrates the art of growing the heaviest gooseberries across four traditional classes: red, green, yellow and white. For over two centuries, growers have followed strict methods and meticulous rules, competing using traditional apothecary scales. Visitors can enjoy the impressive displays, soak up the history and experience a charming rural tradition that still captures national attention today.
Free entry for all visitors. Members entering berries must ensure they are with the judges by midday.
The show takes place within the grounds of Egton Manor, welcoming visitors from 2pm. Expect a relaxed outdoor setting, traditional displays and local refreshments. The event is held every year on the first Tuesday in August and remains one of North Yorkshire’s most cherished heritage gatherings.
