The European Stone Festival returns to Halifax Minster on 24th & 25th May 2025, showcasing the incredible skill of apprentice and master stonemasons, as well as sculptors from across Europe. This international event offers visitors the chance to watch stonemasons compete to create new works in Halifax in just two days.

Exhibition Highlights

Here’s what visitors can expect at the European Stone Festival 2025:

• An exciting competition where stonemasons and sculptors carve unique works based on the theme of Myths and Legends.
• All carvings created using Silverbed Limestone from the Creeton Quarry in Lincolnshire.
• Participants have two days (approx. 16 working hours) to complete their pieces, ready for auction at the end of the festival.
• View sketches and models prepared by the participants, giving insight into the creative process behind each piece.
