Following the success of the inaugural ACQUIRE event in 2023, organisers are pleased to announce its return for 2024. Taking place from the 10th to the 13th of October in Harrogate’s historic town centre, this premier selling event will feature 28 contemporary artisans, each showcasing fine jewellery and silverware. Hosted at the elegant Crown Hotel, the event provides a unique opportunity for visitors to discover high-quality craftsmanship from across the UK.

Opening Schedule

• Thursday, 10th October: Private View from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (including a glass of prosecco). Official opening at 5:40 PM by BBC jewellery expert Susan Rumfitt.
• Friday, 11th October: Open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with late opening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Free entry during the evening.
• Saturday, 12th October: Open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Sunday, 13th October: Open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Location & Amenities

The Crown Hotel, known for its impressive frontage and central location, is only a 5-minute walk from large parking facilities and nearby top eateries such as Bettys Tea Rooms, The Ivy, and Hotel du Vin. The exhibition rooms — Bronte, Thackwray, and Montpellier — are all situated on the ground floor, ensuring easy access for all visitors. Henry’s Bar will be open throughout the event, and guests can enjoy morning harp recitals by Cerys Gogerly in the foyer.

ACQUIRE Talks

New for 2024, ACQUIRE Talks will feature a series of ticketed morning sessions held in the Montpellier Room of The Crown Hotel. Each session will last 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A. Tickets are available in advance on the website.

Schedule of Talks

• Friday, 11th October at 9:30 AM: Jon & Mark RM Weare & Co, gemstone dealers from York, will discuss various aspects of gemmology, showcasing gemstone examples.
• Saturday, 12th October at 9:30 AM: Dr Gordon Hamme, a contemporary silverware specialist, will give a talk on the life and work of master enameller and engraver Phil Barnes, with examples of his silverware on display.
• Sunday, 13th October at 9:30 AM: Susan Rumfitt, BBC Antiques Roadshow jewellery expert, will present on jewellery and will offer a free advice and valuation service following the talk.

Event Organisers

ACQUIRE is organised by fine artist jeweller Joanne Gowan from Pateley Bridge and Sarah Leighton of Quo Vadis Jewellery in Birmingham. The artisans have been carefully selected to offer a broad range of styles and price points, ensuring the highest quality of design and craftsmanship.
