The Great Knaresborough Bed Race is an annual event that combines a vibrant parade with a challenging athletic competition. Teams decorate their beds according to the year’s theme and race through the historic town of Knaresborough, navigating a 2.4-mile course that includes steep hills and a swim across the River Nidd.

- Parade of Decorated Beds: Witness creatively adorned beds parading through the town, showcasing this year’s theme: “TV Adverts”. Teams display impressive designs reflecting popular television commercials.
- Gruelling Race: Cheer on teams as they tackle a demanding 2.4-mile course, featuring parkland trails, the steep ascent of Castle Ings, a sprint through the town centre, and a 30-yard swim through the River Nidd.

- Parking: Free park-and-ride services are available from GSPK on Manse Lane. King James School offers parking for £5, with proceeds going to MacMillan. Arrive early, as main road closures begin at midday.
- Public Transport: Knaresborough is accessible via train services linking Leeds and York. Buses from Harrogate also operate during the day.
- Road Closures: Staggered road closures occur throughout the day, starting from 10:00 AM in the marketplace. Main closures, including the High Street, commence at 12:00 PM. Roads reopen based on safety assessments, potentially remaining closed until 6:00 PM.
