Illuminate The Play: A Festive Gaming Celebration at National Videogame Museum
About
Get ready for a festive fusion of classic gaming and modern technology at the National Videogame Museum (NVM) this December with their exciting new Christmas programme, Illuminate The Play. Launching on 21st December, this event promises a blend of innovative LED games and immersive Virtual Reality experiences.
Experience Independent Innovation
The event celebrates the creativity of independent developers, offering visitors a chance to control light itself in three inventive and mesmerising games. Highlights include:
Line Wobbler: Created by Robin Baumgarten, this award-winning minimalist game uses a spring-based controller to navigate a five-metre-long LED strip display. Players ‘wobble’ the controller to defeat enemies and progress through a dazzling light-based adventure.
Glow Golf: Developed by Alex Johansson, this family-friendly game recreates the thrill of putting on a bright green LED display with a spring-loaded handle.
Tap o’ War: Designed by the NVM team, this interactive experience replaces the traditional tug-of-war rope with a red-versus-blue light showdown, where players compete in a button-bashing battle.
Virtual Reality Meets Retro Gaming
Visitors can also step into the world of Virtual Reality with an immersive reimagining of the classic Tetris Effect. This modern adaptation offers a sensory-rich experience, combining stunning visuals, music, and special effects, all enhanced by PlayStation VR technology.
