The annual Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival returns to the heart of the Yorkshire Dales for nine days of community celebration and creative displays. Visitors can explore the village to discover a wide array of wacky and wonderful scarecrows set against a backdrop of scenic countryside views, alongside homemade refreshments.

Why Visit?

This long-running festival offers an affordable, family-friendly day out in one of the most picturesque locations in the Yorkshire Dales. The 2026 event features guest judges Nick Hockney, great-nephew of David Hockney, and Laura Mate, who will select the finest quirky creations on the opening Saturday, bringing a unique celebration of community creativity to the village.

Visitors are advised to bring cash for the car parks as internet signal in the valley can be unreliable, though card readers are available inside the village hall and at central stalls. Public toilets are located at the start of the trail next to the National Park car park, with additional facilities available at the village hall and local businesses for patrons. A family day out can be enjoyed on a budget, with visitors welcome to bring their own picnics.
