Leeds Guild of Singers – Acclaimed Chamber Choir Returns to Ilkley

Back by popular demand! Leeds Guild of Singers is soon returning to St Margaret’s Church, Ilkley (LS29 9QL) for a special performance on Saturday 8 March, 7.30pm.

LGS is one of Yorkshire’s finest chamber choirs, praised for its “wonderful purity of tone, accuracy of pitch and clarity of diction”. Under the concert title Father in the Heavens, the nearly 40 singers under the direction of Benjamin Kirk will present a reflective Lent programme, featuring Frank Martin’s beautiful ‘Mass for Double Choir’ alongside pieces for multiple voice parts by Whitacre, Holst, Vaughan Williams and others.

St Margaret’s is a perfect setting to enjoy the rich sounds of these complex works. Not to be missed!

Tickets for adults are £15, including a souvenir programme, available online in advance or on the door, by cash or card. Entry for students and under 18s is free, as we encourage young people to enjoy live classical music. The performance will last about 1.5 hours including an interval where refreshments will be served in the parish hall.

If you can’t get to Ilkley, there’s a chance to hear the choir perform this programme again at St Chad’s Church, Far Headingley (LS16 5JT) on Saturday 12th April, 7.30pm.
