Join life model and poet Sue Vickerman for an engaging untutored life drawing session held within her exhibition, “Translating the Body.” This unique event is open to artists and non-artists alike, providing a welcoming space to explore the human form and engage in meaningful discussions about body image and ageing.
In this session:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials for the session. Drawing boards and seven easels will be provided, though attendees should bring their lunch or plan to take a short break to purchase food nearby.
Translating the Body is an evocative exhibition curated by Sue Vickerman, raising questions around art photography and the portrayal of the female body. By challenging the traditional roles between photographer and model, this exhibit gives the model an empowering curatorial and creative voice. The displayed works include interpretations of Vickerman’s image from collaborations with artists Ann Evans, Ashwin Vyas, Michael Kilyon, Lois Brothwell, Phil Moody, and sculptor Judith Glynn.
This event is held on the second floor of The Folly. Currently, there is no wheelchair access to this floor. Entry to the museum requires navigating three uneven steps, and the on-site Coffee House can be accessed via four steps equipped with a handrail. Accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities are available on the ground floor.
This life drawing session is open to all adults, regardless of gender. Whether an experienced artist or a newcomer to life drawing, everyone is welcome to explore and create in a respectful and inclusive environment.
