Celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with the beautiful and traditional Nine Lessons and Carols at York Minster. This service consists of nine special readings, music sung by the Choir of York Minster, and beloved Christmas carols for everyone to join in.

The Nine Lessons and Carols service at York Minster is a cherished Christmas tradition that brings people together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. With readings, choral music, and carol singing, this service is a powerful reminder of the joy and hope that Christmas brings. Whether attending in person or joining the livestream, it’s a beautiful way to embrace the true spirit of Christmas in the awe-inspiring surroundings of York Minster.
The service will take place at York Minster, one of the most iconic cathedrals in the UK.
Free entry, but pre-booked tickets are required for both services. Tickets will be available from 10 December for the 22 December service, and from 12 December for the 24 December service. Either call 01904 557200 or visit yorkminster.org to book.
Visitors are invited to attend the Nine Lessons and Carols service at York Minster on 22 December or 24 December 2024. Pre-booked tickets are required, and doors will open at 3:00 pm, with seating by 3:45 pm. For those unable to attend in person, the 24 December service will be livestreamed. A small number of seats may become available for those without tickets, but admission is not guaranteed.
