East Yorkshire Village to Host Biennial Event

On the 6th and 7th of July, nine gardens in the East Yorkshire village of Shiptonthorpe will be open to the public.

Event Highlights

  • Nine distinctive gardens showcasing the owners’ interests and passions
  • All Saint’s Church hosting the ‘All Things Yorkshire’ Flower Festival
  • Mini scarecrow festival

This event is part of the village’s biennial fundraiser for the church. According to co-organiser Jean Bean:

“The nine gardens are all distinctive and reflect the owners’ interest and passion. The styles and sizes are all different which makes it even more enjoyable wandering and admiring each one as well as meeting the owners.”

Flower Festival Preview Evening

  • Date: Friday, 5th July
  • Features 19 beautiful flower displays
  • Includes a drink and a Yorkshire Picnic

Tickets for the Preview Evening cost £10 and are available by calling Eileen Ducker on 07739 919340.

Open Gardens Details

  • Combined entry cost for all nine gardens: £5.00 for adults, free for children
  • Tickets available from the Church, the Village Hall, the Playing Fields Car Park, and Brookside (next to the traffic lights)
  • Parking available at the Village Hall and on the Playing Fields

Light refreshments will be served between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm in the Village Hall on both days.

Event Schedule

  • Gardens open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days
  • ‘Songs of Praise’ type service in the Church at 5:30 p.m. on both days

Everyone is welcome to join the celebration and enjoy the beautiful displays and community spirit.
