From 10 November to 23 February, visitors can explore a winter scene inspired by life in York during AD 960. Snow covers the reconstructed streets and the residents appear wrapped in hats, woollen garments and furs to cope with the cold conditions. The ride is once again transformed with frosted scenery that reflects the seasonal change both inside and outside.
The centre’s Ljósálfar, the Norse elves, will be adding a hint of magic to the time travel experience, introducing a new element to the journey.
Following the portal, visitors board the centre’s time sleighs to travel through scenes of Viking age York. Snow settles across the quayside, market area and rooftops while residents continue with their daily routines in winter conditions.
Guests are encouraged to take their time, relax and enjoy the full Winter Adventure experience at JORVIK Viking Centre. Advance booking is essential.
